After a solid week of rehearsals, the Roughneck Band is headed to State! Meanwhile, congratulations to our Roughneck football team for qualifying for the playoff! We will play the Stratford Elks in Hereford on Thursday, the day after we get back from San Antonio. It's a busy week, and for all of the right reasons!
Congrats to our band students who received recognition at the football game this past week. Our Rookie of the Week is Adelyn Franklin, and 8th grade clarinet player who has really developed a passion for this whole marching band thing! The Section of the Week is the trombone section, led by fantastic upper classmen and making big "Sundown Sounds" in the show! Our Pumpjack Award goes to Daniel Mauldin, a freshman baritone player who has a bright future ahead as a leader in the Roughneck Band. Way to go Adelyn, Daniel, and the trombone section! SHOUT OUT The shout-out this week goes to our flag runners! You know....THAT flag! These students have come to extra practices to figure out this monstrosity of fabric and got a huge reaction from the crowd and the judges at the Area Contest this past weekend! Sometimes we have to tell them they can't fly the flag when the wind is blowing too much or in the wrong direction, and they're disappointed when that happens. But, as we've said to the flag runners...there's no wind in the Alamodome! The itinerary for this Thursday's Bi-District Championship game in Hereford has been sent to student emails. If you're traveling to San Antonio, please be safe, and we will see you down there!
